Once again, I have fallen behind in my updates. I have no pictures to share right now, but wanted to provide an update for all of you who have been giving my mom grief about not posting!!

In honor of my aunt Christina and my friend Sarah, I have composed a list of new things I can do. Mom says the "Languagey" things should be listed first, since they are the most important.

1. I understand some requests, most of the time. Check that, I UNDERSTAND some requests all the time, I FULFILL them some of the time. For example, I understand "lay down," "give me ____," "put ____ in," as well as others that I'm forgetting.

2. I know where to go to get food. My mom and dad say, "if you're hungry go to your chair." Not a problem. I'm definitely not one to miss a meal!

3. I have been heard saying the following: da (three forms - as a question it means "what's that", as a statement it means "I want that", and if I say it two times it means "daddy"), tuh (truck), tie tuh (fire truck), do (dog), oh (cherios - not quite consistent yet), aker (cracker), go, bye-bye, hi, gama (grandma), ca (car), and "I do" (over and over)

4. I am SO close to walking - but it seems like so much effort. I don't really see what the big deal is - I can get into things a lot faster if I'm crawling. But, mom and dad seem to get really excited when I'm on two feet so I humor them every once in a while.

5. I can put coins in my pig bank toy. I can put balls in my train toy.

6. I can do other things, but those are the biggies right now.

Ok, I don't have any pictures to put up right now, but Mom says that a lot has happened in the last couple weeks and I should make sure to make a note of it. Otherwise, I might forget and she said she's not going to remind me of these events when I get older - not that she would forget, mind you, but that I should start learning RESPONSIBILITY early! :)

So, Memorial Day weekend was a little weird. Good, but weird. I spent the weekend at my Grandma and Grandpa Wrenn's in Boonville and when I got back to Columbia, all my stuff was at this new place. I'm pretty sure I had been there before to see my friends LeiLei, Klause, and Anna (oh, and Matt and Carla too), but now all MY stuff was there. So, that was kind of weird.

The next few days, my parents were running around a lot trying to "get the house ready" for...get this...my ONE YEAR OLD BIRTHDAY PARTY. Another round of craziness - can't believe I've lived in this world for a whole year. I have learned ALOT! Let's see, what do I know? Well, my favorite books continue to be: Moo Baa La La La, Blue Hat Green Hat, Are you My Mother, and Jesus Knows Me. My favorite toys: anything that goes in the water, anything that stacks, anything that has wheels, and anything I can put in my new shopping cart. Favorite foods? I don't think I'm opposed to much of anything. I LOVE Cheerios though and have a lot of fruit (even though Jeanne says that maybe I don't need quite so much all the time)

Other things - well, I learned this new word that for some reason makes people have to leave the room. The other day, I crawled over to a cabinet that I'm not supposed to be getting into and as a reminder I said, "Nonah, NO!" - Mom and Dad had to turn away pretty quickly. Also, a couple days later, Jeanne suggested that I might want to stop doing what I was doing and I looked at her, raised my hand and agreed by saying, "NO!" - she had to go into the kitchen. I don't understand - but apparently this word makes people need to leave! :) (Mama's note: or it's so funny that adults are trying not to encourage it by laughing in front of you)

What else? I had a fabulous birthday party. There were SO many people there. Mom says that we'll be working on Thank You's very soon and she appreciates everyone's patience. But, I had a great time! I liked that everyone was at the new house and there to see me! I kind of had fun with the cake - it's weird eating something messy with everyone watching! Plus, mom and dad don't really let me get THAT messy very much, so that was a little interesting too. I did like the presents - afterwards - during the party, I mainly just wanted to play with bows and bags and other wrapping materials.

So, that's what my life has looked like lately. Sorry for the lack of updates and sorry for the lack of pictures. Mom says she's working on it as fast as she can.

Mommy and Daddy had a garage sale this weekend so I spent the WHOLE weekend in Boonville with my Grandma and Grandpa Wrenn and Uncle Aaron. We had a really good time playing and laughing and waving. I know now how to play the cymbals. It was really fun!

The Busyiness Continues

Hello Internet - this has been a very busy month so far. For one, I learned how to do some major coasting - tables, chairs, couches, Daddy's legs - not a problem for this guy! I'm getting really close to the walking thing - I took about 1 1/2 steps before falling the other night - good huh? Also, I've discovered that with a little effort, I can reach the top of the stairs (supervised, of course). So, that's cool.

I've also started negotiations on these "no" items in my house. Here I am explaining to mom and dad how it's ok if I just touch the wine rack, One more time.....
Of course, I still like books quite a bit, especially turning the pages! I don't quite have the timing down yet, but it sure is fun!

This weekend, we went to watch my cousin Shannon play soccer. We had a great time - got lots of sun - and I really liked watching everyone run around!

So, a while ago, my Great Uncle Pat had a birthday - so Dad, Mom, and I headed into St. Louis to celebrate with the Crowes. It was a really good time - I got to play outside for a long time . I had a good time playing baseball in the grass:

Also, I've become an avid "reader" - my favorite is Brown Bear Brown Bear - I will even look for it in a pile of toys and other books. I like the red bird the best (of course - go Cards) and always seem to laugh when I see it.

It's been a while...

Month Nine

Mobile doesn't even describe this month - I have discovered the joy of crawling on my hands and knees instead of military crawling on my belly. Man can you see more that way!! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to pull myself up on anything I can get my hands on. My favorite is looking at mom and dad go down the stairs while I hold onto the balusters. (yes, that's BALUSTERS). I have no idea why that's funny - but it's hilarious!!

My sitting continues to be fabulous, if I do say so myself. And I've figured out how to get from standing (holding on) down to my bottom again, and them I'm off! There is so much to explore in our house!! (What is this "no" word?)

My other favorite (besides the bathtub and the bannister) is Lady's crate: I've almost figured out how to get the latch open everytime - so, that's nice...
I'll also went on my first "Buster" ride at Grandma and Grandpa D's... Mommy said she used to do that when she was my age. I could get used to letting him do all the work!

It is my eight month birthday today - but it is my Uncle Jason's actual birthday! Unfortunately he is celebrating very far away - but we are thinking about him (I'm told.) Hopefully he is having as much fun as I am - because I'm spending MY birthday with my Grandpa and Grandma D in Boonville. Mom and Dad went to Kansas City so that Dad could get smarter and Mom might be able to get some work done - so Lady and I are in Boonville. Fun times!!

Ok, so these pics are a little late - I'm seven months and one week, but oh well...

This month, I can SIT UP - get that? I can SIT UP without other people. It's craziness - and ya, so I can't actually do it for a huge amount of time - but I can do it, darn it.

I'm also very flexible - and have been known to chew on my toes at times!

Anyway, it's been a great month - lots of family time with Christmas.
I'm really having fun playing with my voice - grunting, clearing my throat, and lots of squealing! Mom is thrilled with most of it - though she'd like me not to "bang my vocal folds together" quite so much! (HA)

Christmas - palooza

I know, I know - this is a post a long time in coming - and so, there's a lot of pressure on the quality of the words I'm writing. However, I'm going to go the more visual route in letting you know what we've been up to these past few weeks. A little adventure I'm calling Christmaspalooza!! This post will be heavy on the photos and light on the talking (at least that's the plan).

We start our adventure in Boonville, the Friday before Christmas. At Day's I had a good time playing with my cousin Brandon:

Discovery Zone

Yesterday, I discovered that I can crawl/slide all over the kitchen! Up until that point, I hadn't really spent much time in there - though I have ALWAYS been a fan of the high chair (food is my friend! :) So, Mom, Dad, Aunt Christina and I had lots of fun in a new room:

From the kitchen table I could really see the snow outside!! I was pretty fascinated with all the white stuff. Not only was it on the ground, but also covering all my trees too!

But then the novelty of looking outside wore off and I went back to one of my favorite things to look at: this really handsome baby that I sometimes see in shiny things! Check him out, he's really cute:

Christmas Came Early...

Six Months

I am six months old today and man, there are not enough things to chew on in this house!! :) This month, I can scoot, I can roll across the floor, I can grab things, and I can definitely chew on stuff! I'm hoping I'm getting some teeth, otherwise this drooling is going to get a little embarrasing!

Things are still going well "at the office" - though I think sometimes Jeanne needs to pay more attention to me and ONLY me! Don't worry, I let her know when she steps out of line.

Thanksgiving was really fun. We went to Boonville and my mom and dad had lots of food and I got to play with a lot of people.

That's about all I can think of right now. Mom says she can't believe I'm already six months old - but I tell her this is just the beginning! Just wait till I'm fully mobile - then watch out!

Ok, so the crawling thing - I gotta be honest, it's not as easy as one might think! So far, I'm able to control my arms OR my legs - but not both at the same time. Mom and Dad call what I'm doing "scooting" and if I'm able to do it without getting rug burn on my face, it's a good day! Apparently, it's really funny to watch though because while I'm working on getting across the room, my parents laugh quite a bit. Anyway, my progress in this area is steady - I scooted backward the other day - Dad says that's developmentally appropriate. So, I've got that going for me!

Man, it's cold when I go to Jeanne's now - good thing I have something to keep my head warm!

Update: Momma says I shouldn't put this in print - but I'm doing a little better sleeping at night - maybe because it's dark so early and I'm confused - but I don't have such issues staying in my crib these days. We'll see how long that lasts! I like to mix things up for the 'rents!

I've been a little under the weather these days - might possibly be cutting teeth already - but no buds yet!

Also - I'm getting REALLY good at this rolling stuff. I've even scooted forward a bit - and when I get frustrated with the whole "I can't crawl" thing, I arch up on my feet and elbows, while yelling at the big people. They don't seem to help me much - maybe they're THERAPISTS and think I should try to do things on my own. Who knows....

We started off by going to visit Uncle David at the grocery store, then we went to Boonville and saw Great-Great Aunt Moi, and both of my Great-Grandmas. As much as I love Tiger football - this was one of the highlights of my weekend:

Grandpa even let me drive most of the way up the driveway. (Dad says to say "I'm an excellent driver, excellent driver" anyone know what that means? :) We had a great time on the "tractor" just like Uncle Aaron used to with his grandpa! :)

A Nice Vacation

This week we are staying at the Saitta's while Uncle Steve and Aunt Ellie go see Jamie and Josh in Montana. Now, I'd rather be looking at those mountains with all of them, but it sure is nice to have a vacation! Dad and Mom call it our "country home" and it sure has been fun! There are three dogs out here (one of them is Lady) and there is lots of space for me to roll around on the floor! Hope the Saitta's are having as much fun as we are!!This is my life...according to me.

A New Development

My mom went back to work this week. She now works at the Thompson Center at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It's kind of sad that she doesn't get to spend every waking moment with me anymore - but I know that she's helping other kids now - PLUS I get to go spend some quality time with great people who dote on me! This week I've been staying with my Great-Uncle Dave and Great-Aunt Karen. We have had such a good time and I've been showing off all of my best skills. Check me out:

I like to look at more things these days - did you know that baby is wearing pink? I don't know that either, but that's what they tell me!

I am a HOSS!! - Last week I weighed in at 17 lbs. and 25 1/4 inches. No wonder I'm not rolling over yet - you try to move that amount of baby! (Mommy says her arms get tired too!)

This weekend I will turn 3 months old - but it's also Labor Day weekend so Mom thought it might be a good idea for me to update everyone a little early - while life isn't quite so busy. Plus I've been in a pretty good mood today - so that just makes it easier to write about me!

Here are some things I can do this month:

1. I'm getting really good at tummy time and am tolerating it for 5-7 minutes at a time. While I'm on my tummy I can push my head and shoulders up off the floor. I don't really look around and focus on things yet - but that's probably because I have so much to lift!!

2. I am talking a lot more lately. I'm not really imitating anything - but I'm definitely making more sounds and listening to when people say sounds to me. The other night I discovered that if I blow through my nose it makes a funny buzzing sound (much like an "n")

3. I'm working on getting more of a schedule. I take about two naps a day now instead of 5 or 6. I'm much more alert and active when I'm not napping too. I like to look around and love to be outside. The leaves and the trees are still some of my favorites.

4. I LOVE to watch people's faces - yes I have a lot of power over them and they do strange things - but it's really fun to watch! I like to smile and laugh (vocalize while exhaling, mom says) at most people!

I'm sure there are more things I am doing - I seem to change everyday - but I can't think of anymore to list here. So that's your update and that's my life - according to me.

First trip to the Quad

This has been a great couple of weeks. I am staying awake more and more during the day - and a little less at night (though mama says she's hesitant to write that down - doesn't want to jinx me!) I am focusing on more and more things. Currently a few of my favorites are: 1. the giraffe that hangs above the dining room table, 2. the gecko that dad hung above the changing table (thank you Saitta's), 3. the leaves and trees in my backyard, and of course 4. anyone who wants to get in front of me and make faces.

This was a big weekend - I met Great-Grandma Bertram (see above) and my aunt D (pic to come). And I was baptized at Daddy's home church. Everybody (well almost) was there and we all had a good time. I didn't even cry when Msgr. Mike poured water on my head! Yea, I was proud too.

Today Mommy put away all of the clothes that say NB (newborn) or 0-3 months. I have gotten too long for most of those things and my belly fills up the rest of them. I guess that's what happens, but I still think it made her a little sad.

Six Weeks Today

Things I can do this week:

1. I can kick my legs hard enough to push my body up mom or dad's chest.

2. I can giggle and I've been smiling a lot more lately. Mom says I have a great laugh that is truly contagious.

3. I can soothe myself to sleep for my nap. (OK, I've only done it once....)

4. I can stay up through sheer will power until 3 am when I finally pass out ... (my parents love this skill!)

5. I can make liars out of my parents and go to bed on cue when Grandma and Grandpa Crowe are in town.

6. I can focus on objects in front of me and follow them with my eyes if they move.

7. I can nap really well in the car, but I can also be very content to watch the world whiz by the car windows.
